Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

 

 

 

 

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites operate under the guidelines and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service’s at no charge. VITA sites are located in community agencies, churches, libraries, public assistance offices, and other public places. VITA sites generally operate from late January thru April 15th. Hours of operations are based on the sites discretions. VITA sites files returns electronically through an IRS supported software which makes it less likely to file an incomplete return and help avoid refund delays. NIA offers free comprehensive homebuyers education class and financial counseling designed to help families navigate the homebuying process. Our homebuyer education curriculum is combined with one-on-one financial counseling in which buyers and counselors develop individualized budgets and action plans. Our classes cover credit, budgeting, predatory lending, mortgage lending, home inspection, home owners’ insurance, closing the loan and life as a homeowner. The financial counseling program helps prepare you financially to own a home and work through any credit or savings issues.
